"Hone your Brand. as a voice actor, you need to know what kind of jobs you'll be getting and then focus on presenting yourself for those kinds of jobs.

People starting out in the VO industry tend to think that having 80 different voice types and accents will get them more jobs. If someone wants a French accent, they'll find a French person, not someone with a fake accent. Same goes for big boomy announcer voices or conversational trustworthy voices."

A little history

"After graduating college with an BFA in Theatre from the University of Missouri and getting a commercial agent in Seattle, I had a voice demo produced by Steve Mitchell Productions.

At the time, I was doing mostly live theatre, on-camera work, and producing music. My first real VO gig was for Microsoft Studios in the X-Box game Mech Assault as Lt Foster, a role which I reprised in Mech Assault II 2 years later. Now 90% of what I do is voice work."

As a voice actor, Troy is inspired by straightforward believability and having fun! In addition to his work as a voice actor, Troy rounds out his portfolio with music production services and licensing of music for film and TV.
